The Academy for Eyecare Excellence is proud to announce the launch of an innovative new application & removal training tool for both staff and patients. Training new contact lens wearers to apply and remove their lenses needn’t take up your valuable consulting room time. Well trained staff are being delegated this function in many practices already, and now with this new training tool “Getting started in soft contact lens wear”, all practices have the chance to train their staff to carry out this function. Additionally, the mobile phone download gives patients extra confidence to be able to apply and remove their lenses once they get home, as it can be viewed any time or place they like.
‘This is a fantastic resource, innovative and fresh, my patients love it and my staff thoroughly enjoy sharing it with our patients and feel better equipped to talk to new contact lens patients about their care regime’, commented Mike Broadhurst , from Broadhurst Optometrists in Preston. “I would highly recommend this tool to all practices. I feel happy that my patients have excellent information at their convenience."
Getting started in soft contact lens wear consists of a DVD containing staff training presentations as well as a video that can be sent by bluetooth to your patients’ mobile phones. This DVD provides practice staff with the knowledge and skills to ensure new contact lens wearers achieve a successful start in wearing and caring for their soft contact lenses. An easy to use menu system is utilised to provide an educational tool for the practice team. The video is also a valuable resource for use during an application and removal tutorial appointment.
The content of the training includes: Hand Hygiene, Lens Placement and Removal, Lens Care and Maintenance, Wearing and Adaptation Schedule, Lens Replacement and a Do's and Don'ts section.
