AIR OPTIX® AQUA MULTIFOCAL, the latest addition to the AIR OPTIX® family of lenses will be available to order from the 12th January, 2009.
The number of patients who cease contact lens wear increases dramatically after 40, due largely to dissatisfaction with vision and comfort.1 AIR OPTIX® AQUA MULTIFOCAL has been designed to address these issues through a number of innovative features.
A new Precision Transition design has been developed offering controlled aberration power profile and simultaneous vision. The power profile offsets the loss of accommodation that comes with the aging process, in turn enhancing depth of focus for presbyopic patients.2
AIR OPTIX® AQUA MULTIFOCAL offers an advanced combination of oxygen and moisture for a healthy, natural feeling,3 with clear vision at all distances.4 Comfort is sustained with the superior wettability and excellent deposit resistance of the lotrafilicon B material with permanent plasma surface treatment.5
Furthermore, AIR OPTIX AQUA MULTIFOCAL consistently delivers the ADD Power across the entire spherical power range. The MED ADD design delivers the same effective ADD Power for a +3.00 as for a -6.00 lens. This enables predictable fits as the effective power is consistent from lens to lens and from patient to patient.6
Another unique feature of the AIR OPTIX AQUA MULTIFOCAL lens is the proven aspheric back surface design also used in the AIR OPTIX AQUA spherical lens which results in optimal centration and excellent fitting characteristics.
While there are definitive near, intermediate and distance zones in the lens, the design allows for a smooth transition from each zone. Whereas other designs have more “steps” in the ADD profile, the AIR OPTIX AQUA MULTIFOCAL lens offers a smooth blend from one power to the next.7
This unique presbyopic lens system with 3 ADD powers is designed to successfully fit emerging presbyopes and smoothly transition patients through the different stages of presbyopia so they can stay in contact lenses longer.8
AIR OPTIX AQUA MULTIFOCAL has a base curve of 8.6mm and a diameter of 14.2mm. It will be available in sphere powers of +6.00 to -10.00D in 0.25 steps with LOW, MED and HIGH Adds from 12th January 2009.
