The first and only made-to-order silicone hydrogel lens
from a worldwide leader in silicone hydrogel technology.

AIR OPTIX Individual™ is fitted according to the same fitting principles common to other soft contact lenses. However, the wide availability of powers, diameters and base curves of AIR OPTIX Individual™ provides more flexibility than other silicone hydrogel contact lenses. Following the key steps below will maximise your fitting success.

AIR OPTIX Individual™ is a 3 monthly replacement lens. It is available in single lens packs with an exchange warranty and 2-packs without the exchange warranty1. For a new patient to AIR OPTIX Individual™ it is advisable to start with a single pack for each eye then order 2-packs once the correct fit and power have been established.

ORDERING THE FIRST PAIR

1. Select Diameter and Base Curve

For a typical patient the 8.4 /14.00 design is a good starting point. The diameter and base curve are determined by using the HVID and flattest K reading as shown in the table below.

2. Determine Power

The vertex distance correction chart at the bottom of the page may be used for powers over +/-4.00D. AIR OPTIX Individual™ is available in sphere powers from +20.00D to -20.00D in 0.25D steps.

DISPENSING LENSES

Once the first lenses have been ordered and received, dispense these lenses and follow the steps below to maximise your fitting success.

1. Evaluate Fit

Fit Analysis Observations Possible Solutions
Optimal - Smooth movement of
  0.1 mm to 0.5 mm
- Mild or no lens
  awareness
- Good centration
- Full corneal coverage
- Stable vision
If vision is good, dispense lens and schedule follow-up visit in 10-14 days. Once confident fit and power are correct 2-packs (6 month supply) may be ordered for each eye.
Too Tight - Insufficient or no lens
  movement
- Lens resists movement
  on push-up test
- Slow return to centred
  position
- Fluctuating vision
  between blinks
Order new lens with either flatter base curve or smaller diameter. May need to verify power as well.
Too Loose - Lens edge standoff or
  “fluting” exists
- Patient reports
  significant discomfort
  (check inversion)
- Excessive movement
  during blinks
- Poor centration
- Blurred vision after blink
Order new lens with either steeper base curve or larger diameter. May need to verify power as well.

2. Over-refraction

Conduct a spherical over-refraction to verify the appropriate lens power. Because of AIR OPTIX Individual’s aspheric design, the final power may differ slightly from the patient’s habitual lens prescription.
